The Wier

Scheduled to open in 2024, we are working with the owners on a full refurbishment of what was formally The White Horse. Dating back to Shakespearean times, we were keen to retain the history of the place whilst creating a modern, stylish and comfortable environment for customers to enjoy. We will be converting the ground floor to allow for all-day dining and adding covered pergolas and customer cabins during the garden redesign so guests can enjoy this tranquil spot by the canal all year round. Highlights of the new design include a feature metal whisky rack hiding a door leading down to an untouched Georgian basement room. Famous for its former occupant the artist JMW Turner, who lived at the address with his uncle where it is said he was inspired by the bucolic views of the river to start painting. Guests will be able to enjoy this atmospheric room whilst whisky tasting. Upstairs there are nine boutique hotel rooms of artisanal luxury catering for business travellers to city weekenders.
