The Acorn
New Local
Formerly the Royal Oak and built in the late 1800’s in one of London’s first garden suburbs, this tired old lady had seen many past tenants come and go. Designed for Greene King pub partners, we led the design with main contractors Videttes, overseeing a full inside & out £460,000 refurbishment.
The pub’s new identity was conceived to attract a new generation of locals to the pub whilst cherishing existing clientele. The inside was completely remodelled retaining only the restored bar, which now has floating above it a cloud of bubble lights. Leather settles, statement flooring and burgundy leather banquets making it both classically stylish, modern and cosy. Beautiful wallpaper in the pink and green themed toilets, along with urban tiling and halo lit mirrors, ensure they are Instagram worthy.
Outside the garden was reimagined with a resin floor and a stretch tent covered sunken seating area for relaxed drinking and dining. This was all delivered to Greene King’s new tenants Austin Wheelan and Colin Coogan of Doolin Rock Pubs, The Acorn is now growing steadily.
