Hospital Corridors

We are proud to be working with a North London Hospital currently going under extensive refurbishment. Our brief is specifically corridors, with the aim to enhance them for the benefit of the patients, visitors and staff who walk them every day. Blackdog looked at the routes people take around the hospital and used our design knowledge to make the corridors calmer, with considered use of colour, material, light and shade. For example, introducing Linoleum flooring (made from materials such as solidified linseed oil, pine resin and ground cork dust), timber benches to sit down on when needed, and tree graphics on window panes to create dappled sunlight. The language of colour was also deployed to help those who are not English speaking navigate their way around.
This is slated for 2025.
